Why a new project management method?

A good project management method 'walks' you through your project giving you a helpful but flexible structure. It also gives valuable advice such as on effective risk management within the project. The problem with many approaches and methods though is that they can be complicated (requiring training) but they also leave gaps, even on some really important areas. They leave you to go and find help elsewhere on the things they haven't covered.

In contrast, PRIME® has a wide scope, giving you all you need, is easy to use and very, very powerful. There are lots of reasons to use PRIME, but here are just five:

1. It's written in easy-to-follow language It uses ordinary business language such as 'project audit' rather than 'project assurance' so it's easy to understand in the first place and then doesn't form a 'jargon' barrier between the project and other staff in the organisation

2. It works the way that business works, including regular progress meetings because the reality is that's how business managers like to run things.

3. It has an easy, linear structure going from the first idea for a project right through to evaluation after the project. There are no complicated overlapping processes or components and you can see at a glace who should be doing what at any point in the project.

4. It's comprehensive, covering all the things you will need and not leaving gaps, such as budget control, that other methods and approaches so often do.

5. The core of the method is simple, which is enough for most projects. But there is real 'power under the bonnet' when you need it with additional "PowerPacks" that you add on when you need them, but only when you need them.

Who produced it?

The method has been developed over two years by Philipp Straehl and Nick Graham in a consortium known as Anglo-Swiss Projects. Philipp has long and extensive experience of large projects worldwide, including high complexity projects. Nick has long experience of project methods and communication (he is the author of the UK edition of Project Management for Dummies and of PRINCE2 for Dummies) as well as extensive training and consulting experience. Together they have worked to produce a method that is highly practical, comprehensive in coverage and simple to use.

How is it sold?

PRIME is sold on a licence basis, variable on the size of your organisation and the number of users.

How do I find out more and express an interest?

Projects need some documentation for good management, but should never be focused on documents.

PRIME keeps things as simple as possible and with documentation it emphasises
"If there is little to say ...
then say little."
